The School Principal's
Message Rapid Bay Primary may be a small school but it has a dynamic learning and teaching environment, which is constantly seeking to improve the learning outcomes for its students. The school offers all eight areas of study in the curriculum even though there are only two classes and three part-time teachers! This speaks volumes for the knowledge and skill of the teaching staff. In addition to that, the school has a focus on Marine Studies – being situated so close to the beach and the biggest colony of Leafy Sea Dragons in the world. The school may be isolated, situated as it is in a valley, surrounded by hills and having permanent fresh water flowing through but using its up-to-date ICT equipment has links with other schools throughout Australia and overseas. Isolation is really a state of mind! Students at Rapid Bay are inclusive, tolerant of differences, caring of others and active. The SRC at the school sponsors a child overseas – Juan Pablo – and has an annual fundraising goal for this purpose. In addition, the school community supports one major charity for the year – most recently being the Heart Foundation through the Jump Rope for Heart project. Community Involvement is strong, the school having an active group of volunteers who work with the students, a very active Ground Committee and a Governing Council, which has little difficulty in filling its positions. Feel free to take a virtual tour of the school or to make contact with us. Our
