Dear Rapid Bay family,

Welcome to Term 2! I hope you enjoyed the break with your children. We are gearing up for another busy term, beginning with our Little Mermaid excursion tomorrow. There will be some changes to the bus run for Thursday. Students who catch the bus in Yankalilla will be picked up at 9:20am at the Skate Park. This saves them from doing extra bus travel. We will also be able to do a drop off in Yankalilla at 3.15pm. The bus will not be returning to school at the end of the day.
Staffing
I am excited to have won the position of Principal until 2024. I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful community of students and parents at our unique school. I can’t wait to continue on the journey we have started to making the best school in the world even better.
I will be taking the older classes for HASS and Technology each week. Sarah King will now teach the UP class full time, Helen Maidment continues in the MP class and Vicki Hudson will teach the JP class.
Jane Brewer has chosen not to continue in her position. We thank her for her efforts with the JP class last term.
I hope to be in a position to announce our new playgroup coordinator in the coming days, stay tuned for further details.
Fundraising
Our pyjama day raised $45 towards adopting a tiger at a zoo yet to be determined. I look forward to working with SRC to develop plans for Term 2 fundraising.
NAPLAN
Students in Years 3, 5 and 7 will undertake NAPLAN testing in Week 3. Due to our fickle internet, our transition to online testing has been delayed until 2020, meaning our students will complete the paper version of the test this year.
I look forward to an exciting and rewarding Term 2 working with you all!
Regards,
Jenna
