Week 9 Parent/Teacher Conversations

Wow, can you believe it is Week 7 already? I hope you enjoyed some quality time with your family over the long weekend. As we approach the latter stages of Term 2, it is relieving for us to have all of our students at school and able to access face to face learning.
While it has been a challenging time for teachers and SSOs to provide for the various combinations of students learning at home, and those at school, we also acknowledge how difficult it was for you at home.
Families are dealing with many challenges and uncertainties. We appreciate the efforts that you have made to support your child/ren with their learning and to provide a secure environment for them in times that were potentially anxiety ridden for you.
We are so grateful to our wonderful local community for the fantastic support that has been offered to our school during these trying times. We have received a multitude of offers, kind words and messages of support. We are truly humbled and appreciative. It is a blessing to be part of such a kind and compassionate community. We are all in this together.
While we welcome the easing of restrictions and are grateful to be in South Australia, which is in such a positive place regarding COVID-19, we are also aware that the pandemic is not over and that we are all still managing a situation that could change at any time.
Although restrictions have eased considerably there are still many precautions in place at school:
  • Additional hand washing and sanitising of surfaces.
  • Parents asked to spend minimal time on school site.
  • Limited face to face meetings – unless deemed necessary.
  • Minimising the number of private service providers on site.
  • Sending students and staff home if they have cold and flu symptoms.
We thank you for your support and understanding as we continue to provide a safe and engaging learning environment for your children.
Your child’s report will be available at Parent Interviews during Week 9. Appointments will be made through the Skool Loop app. A letter will be sent home this week outlining the process. It is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher, face to face or over the phone, to discuss your child’s report and progress this semester.
Reconciliation Week
We celebrated Reconciliation Week last week. Students and staff participated in a range of activities designed to increase our students’ awareness of Indigenous culture and the concept of reconciliation. It was fantastic to see the children so engaged in the activities and also the level of discussion in the yard with regards to Reconciliation Week and how we can play a part in shaping a future of respect and acceptance. A huge thanks to our pre-service teacher, Bailee Holmes, for taking the lead and organising activities for our students.
