JUNE

8th Public Holiday
Dear Rapid Bay families,

It has been great to see more and more students returning to school. We are now up to around 95% attendance on site. Classes are back to some kind of normality and students and staff are “re-starting” 2020, with a focus on student well being and high expectations for student learning.

Skool Loop
We are continually looking at ways to improve and streamline communication at Rapid Bay. After a trial period with Governing Council, we have decided that all school communication (letters, newsletters, information) will be shared via Skool Loop. You can download the Skool Loop app and find our school.
The Team Rapids Facebook page will now be a parent group, without official input from the school. It will be a place for you to communicate with other parents/carers. Please contact me if you have any queries regarding the Skool Loop app.

Pyjama Day/Pirate Day Fundraiser
The staff and students had a blast last week with our Pyjama Day. It was great to bring a bit of fun to the school whilst dealing with these uncertain times. Next Friday, the 22nd of May, we are going to hold a Pirate Day fundraising event. Students can come dressed as a pirate for a gold coin donation. Proceeds go to research for finding a cure for childhood brain cancer.

COVID-19
There have been no updates recently from the Department. Schools continue to undertake extra daily cleaning as well as limiting the amount of visitors on site. We will keep you informed of any updates when we receive them.

Pre-Service Teachers
Bailee is enjoying her time with us working with Sarah and Team JP. We will also welcome another student teacher, Jade Cannard, to our school in Week 5. Jade will be working with Jess and the 5-7 class for a 4 week block.

Simultaneous Story Time
We will be participating in this event on the 27th of May. We will be reading the book Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford and holding our own “Diva Day”. We will be reading the book at 10:30am to coordinate with many other schools around Australia. Students can dress as Divas or chickens on the day.

Acknowledgement
I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank Adrian Dauk for his time as Chairperson of Governing Council. We thank him for his time and efforts and wish the Dauk family all the best for the future.

School Card
Due to changed circumstances you may be eligible for School Card. If you wish to apply visit sa.gov.au/education/schoolcard.
