Principal
Jenna McArdle
Dear Rapid Bay families,

20 Years - Jeanette
This week we celebrated an amazing milestone for one of our SSO’s, Jeanette McGrane. This year marks 20 years of working at Rapid Bay Primary School. I know I speak for all staff and students, and past members of our school community, when I thank her for all of her hard work to help achieve the best educational outcomes possible for all students she has worked with. We look forward to many more years ahead for Jeanette at our school.

Graduation
Congratulations Georgie and Kian
What a year it has been! Kian and Georgie have both made outstanding contributions to our school over the years and will be very much missed by us all. It has been an absolute privilege working with them and watching them grow into the fine young people they are today.
Kian was one of my Year 3 ‘s back in our original Team JP days, my first year at Rapid Bay Primary School. He was and is a great helper. I’m blown away by his growth over the years and I have enjoyed watching him grow in confidence and leadership over the years. The sky is the limit, challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zones.
Georgie has been such a great role model for our younger students and her peers, will miss you greatly. She is an organised and mature young woman, who is capable of anything she sets her mind to.
On behalf of our Rapid Bay Family we wish both Georgie and Kian the very best on their future adventures going into high school. We look forward to the visits and hearing all the stories.

Classes and teachers
We are currently finalising staffing for 2021. The JP and MP teachers are confirmed as below.
R-2, Sarah King
2-4, Jo Cramond and Jen McArdle
5-7, to be confirmed- we will let you know via Skool Loop once teacher is confirmed.

We would like thank Abbey for her tremendous work with the MP class this year and wish her all the best as she embarks on an exciting new chapter with her baby due early next year.

Thanks
I would like to thank all members of the school community for their support this year. What an amazing year it has been. We have all had to be flexible and have had to make many sacrifices with school events. I would like to thank the Governing council, led by Victoria Weatherby, for their support and time this year. You have all made invaluable contributions to our school. Thanks to the staff members for their tireless work and unwavering support. I could not ask for a better team to work with and look forward to an even better 2021. Thanks to all of our parents and carers of our amazing students. The support from you has enabled us to conduct two camps as well as working bees that have improved the aesthetics of our school grounds greatly. Thanks to everyone who helped out over the year.

Christmas Concert
As with many of our traditions and events, our Christmas Concert has had to look different this year. We have enjoyed experimenting with the ICT possibilities (thanks Zoe) and hope you enjoy watching the students performing their songs. Creating memories for years to come. A huge shout out to Robert for all of his musical expertise and work preparing the classes.

Casual Clothes Day and Early Dismissal
This Friday we will hold a fun day for students. There will be several activities available for the students to enjoy. Students are welcome to wear casual clothes on the day. A reminder also that there will be early dismissal on the day with school ending one hour earlier than usual. I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break with your children.

News from Governing Council

Rapid Bay Primary School’s Governing Council met for its End of Year Meeting and Dinner on Tuesday evening, 1 December 2020 (1st Day of Summer!) at the “Victory Hotel”. The School remains committed to 3 Classes in 2021 with Teachers To Be Confirmed. Jenna has been actively getting things in order to reinstate Beach Swimming for the Students. Victoria proposed enacting a Section of the Governing Council’s Constitution which provides for a Student Representative. It is envisaged that the Student Representative would provide a Report rather than attend meetings in person. Governing Council accepted this Proposal. Claire suggested pursuing Solar Power further (the School does currently have some panels) as part of the “Resource Plan” which the Department of Education has asked the School to devise in response to our having substantial revenue. James undertook to follow this up in the New Year. Proposed improvements for the School include upgrading of the Upper Primary Classroom and upgrading and re-organising of the Main Building which houses the Library and Offices yet funding remains an issue. The Fundraising and Play Ground Subcommittees remain On Task with a focus on 2021. Governing Council tentatively committed to meeting in or about the 3rd week of the 2021 School Year for a General Meeting to follow its Annual General Meeting (AGM) as part of a Parents’ and Caregivers’ Evening in order to shamelessly recruit more New Members! In closing - I commend our Principal, Jenna McArdle and all School Staff for their efforts throughout a very challenging year! Thank you also to the School’s Parent and Care-giver Body for the Opportunity to Serve and for their patience and ability and willingness to adapt. I also commend my fellow Governing Council Members for challenging themselves this year and – most of all – to the Children of the Rapid Bay Primary School for their Courage, Good Humour and Resilience throughout the Year That Was 2020! Congratulations to Our Graduates and I wish them a wonderful evening with their families celebrating. I wish us all a Happy further Week and a Half of the School Year, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year in 2021!

Victoria Wetherby (Governing Council Chairperson)
