Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We have now come to the end of another busy term. Where has that time gone?!? Someone told me on the weekend that it is only 14 weeks until Christmas and in typical Rapid Bay style we have a full fun filled term ahead of us after the holiday break.
We hope you all enjoy your holiday break. I look forward to seeing many of you at the “We Are One” Community event in the holidays.
Thanks to our amazing Governing Council and Rapid Bay families who volunteered their time on a Sunday to makeover and tidy our grounds.
Thanks to Donna and Yankalilla Landscaping and Garden Centre for the generous donation, we now have three wicking beds on the other side of the middle primary room.
These generous donation of items and peoples' time enables our students to learn about sustainability by growing their own produce and using what they grow in their cooking.
Thank you to everyone involved for your amazing efforts.
The fencing has now been completed on the boundary of our school and looks fantastic it has really tidied up that whole area.
This year we were fortunate to experience all the challenges that Mylor Adventure Camp has to offer. The camp was again sponsored by RATCH Australia - Starfish Hill Wind Farm. Their ongoing and generous support enables us to provide our students with wonderful camp experiences such as our Mylor Adventure Camp. We are so grateful for their wonderful support for our school and local community.
I was extremely proud of the way our students represented our school and they have many stories to share.
“I really enjoyed the giant swing it challenged my limits, it was scary up the top but was awesome.” Monique
“The Challenge course commando crawl through the mud was my favourite and it made my skin feel nice, as it was expensive mud.” Logan
“Mylor camp is my favourite camp so far at Rapid Bay. It was very challenging; out of all the activities the flying fox was my favourite.” Georgie
“I liked the drop of the Giant Swing, it was scary at first, but it was definitely my favourite activity.” Celeste
The decision was made to postpone our sports day due to inclement weather. We are now aiming to host sports day on Friday 16th October, week 1 term 4. At this stage families will be welcomed to attend sports day on this new date, if social distancing measures are adhered to. We will keep families informed of any changes. Thank you for your understanding.
We are now looking at classes for 2021!
Our transition visits at Rapid Bay start on Friday 23rd, October, Term 4 and will continue through to week 6.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you wish for your child to begin at Rapid Bay in 2021 or if you would like more information and a school tour.
We can’t wait to welcome our new students and their families to the Rapid Bay community.
Refugee Art Competition Opening Attendance
Welcome - We Are One” Is a student art competition to raise awareness in our community about diversity and equality. A number of students have entered their art works and are very excited to be part of an exhibition. We also have the opportunity to join two local musicians, Robert Bean and Robert Moye,r to sing “I am Australian.”
This event based on the theme “Welcome - We Are One” will be held at Yankalilla Showgrounds on Saturday 3rd October 2020. `
We are very excited to be involved and singing with 'The Roberts' in this event and can’t wait to see the final products of kids' artworks.
We are in the process of getting the SWiFT high-speed internet connection to our school. At this stage it is running ahead of time with the plan of it getting to us by the end of October.
