Dear Rapid Bay families,

Welcome to Term 4 everyone. I hope you had the chance to spend some quality family time with your child/ren over the break. It is hard to believe we only have 9 weeks of the school year left! It will no doubt be another busy, exciting, and rewarding term.

Term 3 was action packed and full of highlights, even if it did get off to a rocky start with a Week 1 lockdown! Highlights included a most successful whole school camp to Aldinga, awesome Book Week celebrations, SAPSASA events, the continued success of Sprouts and then capped off with our Sports Day in Week 10. Congratulations to Miller Russo for winning the gold medal for the day as well as Hannah Royans on winning silver and Ruben Barrington for taking home the bronze. It was a fantastic day, and it was awesome to be able to welcome parents/carers to the event.

NAPLAN Results
Parents of Year 3, 5 and 7 students will receive their NAPLAN reports this week. The results across the board have been very positive and are an indication that we are on the right track as a school. As always, feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any queries regarding these results.

Office Upgrades
The holiday break has been used to complete some upgrades to the office area. This area has been reconfigured to allow us to have a dedicated first aid area. The office area and library have been recarpeted with a fresh new design. We have also had new cupboards fitted to the office area.
The staffroom will now be in the old Art room. This change will allow more space for whole staff meetings and activities, whilst the area will still be able to be utilised by students for cooking and other designated activities.

Have a great week everyone,

Jen

“Word” from Governing Council Chairperson!

On a cold and windy evening (Tuesday, 14 September 2021 to be exact) your Councillors bravely set out and met in the School Library for a General Meeting. We again made Modern Technology work for us – 2 Councillors joined us via “ZOOM” and another via telephone (with varied success!) A letter from the “School Library Association – South Australia” was tabled and discussed. This included the viewing of a Video outlining the “Role of the School Librarian” from a QR Code on the letter! Your Principal took the Governing Council through the Proposed “Building Transformation/s” of the “Main Brick Building” and the current “Art Room”. All Works are regarding Internal Structures. The Works to the Main Building will see a “clear avenue” through Reception to the Principal’s Office from the Main Front Doors with a small meeting room to the side and a First Aid/”Break Out” Room beyond that (currently the Principal’s Office). The Art Room will have a dividing wall (possibly re-tractable) with a door to allow for storage on one side and a Staff Room and space for Students’ Electives on the side with the existing sink and kitchen. At the time of writing the Works have already began and are due to be finished by the end of the First Week back of the upcoming Term 4. Your Principal reported that her Staff have joined “Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)” across the School’s existing Portfolios and Partnership. They are working in a range of areas to improve learning outcomes across different educational settings. Fundraising Subcommittee – a Fresh Focus is proposed for Term 4 with several Events and Ideas being planned. At the time of writing this will include another “Rapid Bay Primary School Stall” at the “Kids’ Market” on the first Sunday (26 September 2021) of the upcoming School Holidays. Play Ground Subcommittee – Councillor James Potter is due to Present a detailed Plan for Proposed Works at the Next Governing Council meeting on Tuesday, 26 October 2021 from 7PM!
